Tamerra Griffin

Tamerra Griffin is a women's soccer writer (or football writer, if you prefer) who has covered some of the biggest competitions in the game, from the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand to multiple National Women's Soccer League championships, NCAA College Cup games, and several others in between. A former player herself, Tamerra strives to tell stories that probe the cultural and geopolitical implications of the beautiful game and humanize players in nuanced ways. Prior to writing about soccer, she was an international journalist based in Nairobi,  where she reported on presidential elections across Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Uganda; climate change in Madagascar; political uprisings in Sudan; and many other urgent stories. When she's not packing her bags to chase down the latest story, Tamerra enjoys going out dancing, exchanging podcast-length voice notes with her friends, and getting lost in art museums.
